sisterly love

oregon  is well-known for it's natural beauty and although we have driven through it several times, we've rarely given it more than a passing glance

this trip is changing that....

the hike up to tumalo falls was hot and dusty but so, so worth it

i've never seen a waterfall with such a defined drop off - but oh, what a stunning view!

the creek at the top is narrow and fast and the water thunders over the edge with the roar of freight train

we hiked a mile farther to see another waterfall... the trail partly shaded and winding along, always taking us higher and higher

beautiful big pines releasing their pungent scent. in the heat, the woods alive with butterflies and bees, decorated with wild flowers here and there,

all the while, the mountains are in the distance...

the famous "three sisters" mountains... the namesake for the town of sisters

..

originally named "faith, hope and charity" by the early settlers... which is perfect really

as that leaves "love" for the sister below

these two, brother and sister, are having a blast... long walks, playing pickle ball, and long talks in the hot tub until all hours...

a most wonderful visit, and such a special thing to see them together...

{and a special thank you to D, our b-i-l for the pictures - you saved the day with your camera!}

Isn't it extra special when you can take the time to truly enjoy your surroundings. So often we are always in such a rush to get from point A to B. Your hike resulted is stunning views and a spectacular waterfall. Lovely photo of brother and sister together making memories. Safe travels home dear...
