a day in the life.....

of a dopey cat!

mistress josy-phine is up to all sorts of antics now she is feeling good and finally gaining weight after almost two years of worry

morning tub time - dry play only, no water allowed!

a fluff and a comb-out are required regardless of not being wet

orange cats love orange marmalade

yes, she really does!

and then a nap... an all day nap.... from pillow to couch....

to perch....

it turns out, despite three vets telling us josie had kidney problems and would never get better, that she had a diet problem

and the special vet food we were giving her, meant to  help her, was actually the problem

she is now happily chowing down on a wholesome and healthful type of cat food, available in specialty pet stores
and is gaining all her weight back

playing like a kitten again
(when she's all rested up that is!)

thanks to our son Doug and his partner Claire
who took josie to calgary for six weeks and experimented with different cat foods and different feeding methods
persevering through endless varieties

they found a selection of cat food that she not only loved, but has restored her health and vitality

we have our little cat back, and we are so grateful!

Oh I just love this kitty! We had a bit of a scare with our Fetzer (that looks like Josy) this past week, but fortunately all is well! After all...he is my "boy." Love that you pamper yours as much as we do ours! Don't they just have "the life?"

oh wonderful news but scary also.... I had a dentist tell me nearly 12 years ago that a tooth of mine would crack and break off within weeks...you guessed it...nope still have it and it's fine. I also had a dr walk into my dad's hospital room, call him the wrong name and proceed to discuss his heart surgery. My dad had liver surgery, not by that dude and when I told him he was in the wrong room he challenged me and said how would I know? I said he had been my dad for over 40 years ..I was VERY sure I was correct... like I said..... it's scary what goes on...

so happy for you and Ms Feline <3

That is such wonderful news. Our pets are so dear to us and really are part of the family. I can't believe that you had, had more than one vets opinion and that they were all wrong, that is worrying. Enjoy the new health of your cat.

I would like to know the name of the cat food.

I am so glad that Miss Josey is doing just fine now.

Happy spring to all of you.

My kitty loves tub time, too! We throw one of his little wooden or felt balls in there and he has a blast chasing it around.

So glad Josey is all better. Keep it up Josey - you're in great hands.

Perhaps Master Doug should rethink his degree and attend vet school. He appears to be doing better than the professionals! I can't believe that these are pics of Josie.......what a difference! Congratulations, I am happy for all of you especially Josie.

Such good news about your Josie! And orange marmalade? wow.
We've been feeding a feral orange cat since last fall, and he has come to enjoy his petting, and loves playing. He's not a fan of being picked up, but he will tolerate it for a few moments. He is not interested in coming inside, which is okay for us as we are both allergic, but we had hoped to tame him fully so he could be adopted.
Peaches was our marmalade cat before I found out about my serious allergy, but she never wanted to try the marmalade, though she liked the buttered toast!

Cat whisperer is right. If I ever do get that hedgehog I know exactly who to call...

She looks like a dream!

Such wonderful photoes of your Josie, -------whom can relax like a cat??
Wonderful that your son and his partner found the real food for her, that she likes and that helps her grow again!
Yes we all have stories about both vets and doctors, that never should have had their jobs!!! It is so bad that they are also so very difficult to fire!!!
Hugs dear Gillayne from Dorthe

Thank goodness you discovered the problem, but so sad it had to last so long at the advice of the "professionals"! Cheers~

Jillayne, she is so beautiful and LOVE the photo of her getting her 'blow dry'! Sometimes the experts don't have all of the answers, thank goodness you listened to that little inner voice and pursued other avenues for the answer to Josy-phine's problems. Here's to many, many more years of napping together <3
