Artful Thursday - Finale

And here we are, at the end.

Artful Thursday was a year long "challenge" put forth by Julie of The Adventures of Bluegirl in early January 2010.
The challenge was to take the time to play with those projects or techniques that have intrigued you but that you haven't got around to - an artist date with yourself if you like.

I joined at the beginning of March and have enjoyed myself immensely; I have played with new techniques, new materials and new ideas as well as re-visiting some old favourites...

sachets with simple patchwork and seam decoration

embroidery, using pinstriped fabric for the guidelines

I didn't experiment as much as I would have liked, but I did finally get to muck around with collage techniques, for which I am very grateful -
what a wonderful playground that is!

I can't say enough about the value of that weekly date with art, knowing you have to do something, play with something, create something and I am not ready to give up that part of it.

So, I am going to recycle and re purpose it to something else,
something that will push me in different ways.
I'm going to change the day to Monday though; I've always liked Monday's best and this way, I can have the weekend to get inspired - and even start early if I want ; )

I still have to think of what I'll call it and any "rules" I want to impose, but whatever else it is, it must be artful, inspirational and provoking.

I'll keep you "posted"!

I'll be interested to hear what you come up with. This might be just the incentive I need!

Hi dear!
It is a wonderfull way of trying new wayes, Jillayne- I wish I ciuld do,that, but with an open shop, I can`t take one day "off" every week-to a _only mine day_
Have to just do that ,now and then :)
But I tell you that I love your fence of driftwood-it is so beautifull,-and so are your card, and embroidered little things-SO LOVELY.
Thanks for a beautifull post, in any way, dear.
Hugs,Dorthe

Jillayne, I know what you mean...almost like someone's looking over your shoulder and making you accountable. I just joined up for Inchies Mondays with the same thing in mind...to challenge myself...52 times! LOL!
I've enjoyed your Artful Thursdays!
Hugs,
Diane

It has been most interesting following your Artfull Thursdays. I'll look forward to your Monday's - they'll be just as interesting and intriguing I'm sure. You certainly create incentive.

What a neat idea. I love the embroidery with the pinstripes. Embroidery is something I have been meaning to delve into, so maybe I will have an artist date with my self. I saw your word for the year was Content on another blog. Mine is Contentment so I had to come see what you're blogging! Happy 2011 with Content!

All of these are beautiful Jillayne, but it was that little stem with the purple/blue flowers that caught my eye and I'd love to give that a try! I love the colors, so soft and light. Your stitching is always to inspiring to me.
